Gift voucher terms

These terms apply to gift vouchers for Swindlers, 19 Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough, sold and issued by Swindlers Ltd (company number 17477672). By buying a gift voucher, you agree to them.

Buying a voucher

  • You can buy a gift voucher on our website for one of the amounts shown, or an amount of your choice within the limits shown. You pay by card through our payment provider, Stripe.
  • We email the voucher, with a PDF you can print, either to you or to the person you're giving it to on the date you choose (at 9am UK time). We also email you a receipt.
  • Vouchers are sold at face value. No VAT is charged when you buy one: VAT is included in the prices of the food and drink it's spent on.

Using a voucher

  • Show the voucher code when you pay at Swindlers, 19 Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough. It can be used for food and drink.
  • You can use it over more than one visit. Whatever you don't spend stays on the voucher until it expires. If your bill is more than the balance, you can pay the rest another way.
  • Vouchers can only be used in the venue at the moment. They can't be used online, for example for event bookings or to buy other gift vouchers.
  • Tables you book follow our booking terms.
  • No cash alternative. Vouchers can't be exchanged for cash, and we don't give change.

Expiry

  • A voucher is valid for 12 months from the day it's bought, unless a different period is shown when you buy it. The expiry date is shown before you pay, and printed on the voucher and in the email.
  • Any balance left after the expiry date can't be used.

Lost codes

  • Treat your voucher like cash: anyone with the code can use it.
  • If you lose the code, contact us and we'll resend the voucher to the email address it was sent to. We can't replace a voucher, or any part of it, that someone else has already used.

Cancelling and refunds

  • If you bought a voucher on our website, you can cancel within 14 days of buying it for a full refund, as long as the voucher hasn't been used. This is your right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
  • To cancel, email info@swindlers.co.uk with your name and the last four characters of the voucher code. We'll cancel the voucher and refund you to the card you paid with within 14 days of you telling us.
  • Once the 14 days have passed, or once the voucher has been used, we can't refund it. This doesn't affect your other rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Complimentary vouchers

Vouchers we give away free, for example as a prize, follow these terms too, but there's nothing to refund. Their expiry date is shown on the voucher.

Your personal information

We use your details, and the recipient's if you give them, to take payment, send the voucher and your receipt, and resend the voucher if you ask. We keep them for 6 years after the voucher expires, is used up or is cancelled, as tax and accounting rules require. See our privacy notice.
